Tower Demolition Will Close Road In Stamford This Weekend
STAMFORD, CT — A section of Washington Boulevard in Stamford will be closed this weekend from 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, due to the demolition of St. John's Tower , according to Stamford government officials and police.
All northbound and southbound lanes boulevard will be closed during the period between Tresser Boulevard and Bell Street.
"For the safety of local residents, all northbound and southbound lanes of Washington Boulevard from Tresser Boulevard to Bell Street will be closed during Phase I’s weekend demolition," officials stated on the city's website. "Washington Boulevard will reopen on Monday, Jan. 28 at 5 a.m. Local businesses north of Bell Street (such as Hotel Zero Degrees) will have limited access to Washington Boulevard during the weekend demolition."
Phase II of the project will begin on the 28th but will not require lane closures, according to officials.
