TOURNAMENT WEEK! | Lady Rangers today at 3, Rangers Thursday night

Apr. 7—When the Region XIV Conference men's tournament tips off this week in Jacksonville, there won't be a Kilgore College team playing in the first round.

That's because coach Brian Hoberecht's Rangers earned a first-round bye, and won't play until Thursday night.

The conference hosts its men's and women's tournaments for the entirety of this week at Jacksonville College's John Alexander Gymnasium, and neither KC team plays the first day. That first day was Tuesday, the first round of the men's tournament. The Lady Rangers did get into the women's division, and will play a first round game today at 3.

But the Rangers — who finished the regular season Friday with a win over Victoria College — finished up with a 15-5 record. They earned the number three seed in the tournament, and they will play the winner of Blinn and Coastal Bend on Thursday in the quarterfinals. It'll be the last game of the evening, at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The first round for the ladies tournament is today, and coach Addie Lees' Lady Rangers made it. They'll play Panola College at 3 p.m.

Friday are semifinal games for both tournaments. The two women's semifinals are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and the two men's semifinals are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Saturday is Championship Saturday. The women's conference championship game will tip off at 4 p.m., with the men tipping off at 7.

Tickets are $5 for general admission per person, per game. Tickets are sold per session, and can be purchased online here: https://www.jacksonville-college.edu/region-xiv-championship-tournament.

There is also a general admission tournament pass, available for $25.

There is this, regarding COVID-19, a statement on the tournament's website: "Please note that in accordance with JISD, the CDC, and Region XIV Covid-19 guidelines including masking, capacity guidelines, and social distancing will be observed during the Region XIV NJCAA Basketball Tournament."

John Alexander Gymnasium, on the Jacksonville College campus, is located at 811 Farnsworth, Jacksonville, TX 75766.
