Torrey Smith and his wife did a great thing for homeless animals in Baltimore

Many NFL players have good causes they feel passionate about. For receiver Torrey Smith, it’s homeless animals.

Smith, who has played with the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, decided to go above and beyond at an annual Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) event. Smith and his wife Chanel said they would pay for the adoption fees for all 46 dogs and cats at the “Pawject Runway” event.

“This year, Torrey surprised us all with a special announcement. He explained that before the show, he and his wife Chanel were discussing what more they could do for all the homeless animals they spent time with backstage. They wanted to make sure that every single one of them had an adoption application by the end of the night. Torrey and Chanel decided that they would cover the adoption fees for every single cat and dog at Pawject Runway—46 animals, wow!”

The post said Smith and his wife also made “an extra donation on top of each animals’ adoption fees.”

Last night at the conclusion of the runway show, Torrey took to the mic to address the crowd. Each year he reminds us…

The NFL offseason generally has its share of bad news, with players finding trouble with too much off time. It’s always nice to hear about the good deeds of players like Smith, contributing to causes they believe in.
