Tornado Warnings issued in North Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Weather Authority is continuing to monitor the potential for the development of severe weather Thursday morning.

A favorable environment in place over the Tennessee Valley will allow for the development of isolated supercells late Wednesday afternoon into the evening. Ahead of this severe weather threat, the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch until 11 p.m.

Counties in Tennessee included in the watch are Franklin, Lincoln, and Moore.

All counties in North Alabama are included.

Damaging straight-line winds over 60 mph will be the primary threat storms will pose. Large hail and locally heavy rain will also be possible. With plenty of wind shear in place at the lower levels there will be a threat for tornadoes.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts through this evening and tonight!
