Tornado Watch canceled for counties near Kansas City metro

All tornado watches near the Kansas City metro have been canceled by the National Weather Service Tuesday night.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for multiple counties just outside of the Kansas City area.

The Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 p.m. for Atchison, Doniphan, Douglas, Franklin, Jefferson, and Brown counties on the Kansas side and Atchison, Holt, Buchannan, Nodaway and Dekalb counties on the Missouri side.

During a tornado watch, conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop, but a tornado has not yet been sighted or indicated by weather radar.

The FOX4 Weather Team says storms are expected to move in after 6 p.m. Tuesday with some turning severe. Storms may have stronger winds and larger hail, especially from KC westwards.
