Top seniors from Springfield's Glendale High School honored, share future plans

Each year, Springfield Public Schools honors the 10 graduating seniors at each high school who have the highest grade point average.

They will be celebrated during the annual Recognition of Scholastic Excellence, or ROSE, banquet. The News-Leader is highlighting the honorees from each high school this week through Sunday.

This year, due to ties in GPA, SPS will be spotlighting 57 students in the Class of 2024. Here are the honorees for Glendale:

Mary Coranell Boehm
Mary Coranell Boehm

Mary Coranell Boehm, daughter of Dr. Jason Boehm and Elliot Boehm, plans to seek a degree in fine arts and pursue a career as an artist or magazine designer. Mary’s high school activities include Glendale Cabinet — art commissioner, Quill News Magazine — design editor, Art Club — president, National Art Honor Society — president, Photography Club — social media manager, National Honor Society, World Language Club, and Book Club.

Kaitlyn Deann Brady
Kaitlyn Deann Brady

Kaitlyn Deann Brady, daughter of Neil Brady and Tonya Brady, plans to seek a degree in chemistry and biblical studies and pursue a career in medicine. Kaitlyn’s high school activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, The Glendale 411, World Language Club, and volleyball.

Macy Elise Bussen
Macy Elise Bussen

Macy Elise Bussen, daughter of Curt Bussen and Cyndi Bussen, plans to attend Auburn University to seek a degree in public relations and pursue a career in sports public relations. Macy’s high school activities include Cabinet — promotions commissioner, World Language Club — co-president, golf,yearbook, Big Sis/Little Sis and National Honor Society.

Lyla Mae Flinn
Lyla Mae Flinn

Lyla Mae Flinn, daughter of Jim Flinn and Heather Flinn, plans to seek a degree in computer science and pursue a STEM related career path. Lyla’s high school activities include Glendale Performance Club — founder and president, World Language Club, National Honor Society, and volleyball.

Amari Kahlis Isaia
Amari Kahlis Isaia

Amari Kahlis Isaia, daughter of Isaac Isaia and Meghan Isaia, plans to seek a degree in medicine and pursue a career as a family medicine physician. Amari’s high school activities include Falcon Reads, Quill News Magazine, National Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, World Language Club, volleyball, basketball, and Peer Mediation.

Avery Merritt Kinney
Avery Merritt Kinney

Avery Merritt Kinney, daughter of Danny Kinney and Michelle Kinney, plans to attend Clemson University to seek a degree in pre-professional health studies and pursue a career in physical therapy or kinesiology. Avery’s high school activities include volleyball, National Honor Society, World Language Club, and Big Sis/Little Sis.

Kacey Ruth McCoy

Kacey Ruth McCoy, daughter of Greg McCoy and Heather McCoy, plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to seek a degree in health sciences and pursue a career as a pediatric occupational therapist. Kacey’s high school activities include National Honor Society, World Language Club, Chemistry Club, Big Sis/Little Sis, varsity girls soccer, cabinet, Health Occupations Students of America, and A+ Program.

Brandon Robert Phillips
Brandon Robert Phillips

Brandon Robert Phillips, son of Jonathan Phillips and Joleen Phillips, plans to attend Missouri State University to seek a degree in writing and engineering and pursue a career in journalism or engineering. Brandon’s high school activities include baseball, cross country, DECA, National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America.

Samuel Ethan Rinehart
Samuel Ethan Rinehart

Samuel Ethan Rinehart, son of Fred Rinehart and Tonya Rinehart, plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to seek a degree in mathematics and actuarial sciences and pursue a career as an actuary. Samuel’s high school activities include National Honor Society, A+ Program, cross country, track and field, bowling, and baseball.

Abigail Brooke Samek
Abigail Brooke Samek

Abigail Brooke Samek, daughter of Jim Samek and Amy Samek, plans to attend Missouri State University to seek a degree in marketing and pursue a career as a marketing director and promotional photographer and videographer. Abigail’s high school activities include cheerleading, cabinet, DECA, and Future Business Leaders of America.
