Top seniors from Springfield's Central High School honored, share future plans

Each year, Springfield Public Schools honors the 10 graduating seniors at each high school who have the highest grade point average.

They will be celebrated during the annual Recognition of Scholastic Excellence, or ROSE, banquet. The News-Leader is highlighting the honorees from each high school this week through Sunday.

This year, due to ties in GPA, Central High School will be honoring 17 students. They include:

Quincy Catherine Alberhasky
Quincy Catherine Alberhasky

Quincy Catherine Alberhasky, daughter of Randy Alberhasky and Chantel Kelly, plans to attend Brown University to seek a degree in environmental science and modern culture and media and then pursue a career in science communication. Quincy’s high school activities include Envirothon, Project Green Schools, tennis, Book Club, and A+ Tutoring.

Darla Reese Bauer
Darla Reese Bauer

Darla Reese Bauer, daughter of Jeff Bauer and Alison Bauer, plans to attend New York University to seek a degree in Film and TV Production and then pursue a career path as a director and screenwriter. Darla’s high school activities include Central Intelligence, cabinet, International Baccalaureate Ambassadors, Chamber Choir, Missouri Scholars Academy, National Honor Society, and the Telluride Film Festival “City Lights Project."

Selina Borland
Selina Borland

Selina Yoomin Borland, daughter of Hyunjeong Cho, plans to attend Missouri State University to seek a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner masters. Selina’s high school activities include IB Ambassadors, International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme, and National Honor Society.

Cole Brodeur
Cole Brodeur

Cole Michael Brodeur, son of Dr. Christian Brodeur and Dr. Amanda Brodeur, plans to attend the University of Missouri to seek a Doctor of Medicine degree. Cole’s high school activities include Missouri Scholars Academy, Science Olympiad, and Health Occupations Students of America.

Samuel Cummings
Samuel Cummings

Samuel Benjamin Cummings, son of Dr. Orin Cummings and Samantha Cummings, plans to attend Northeastern University in Boston to seek a degree in chemistry and pursue a career as a Physician. Samuel’s high school activities include Speech and Debate, band, Health Occupations Students of America, Civics and Constitution Club, Peer Mediation, International Baccalaureate Ambassadors, National Honor Society, A+ Tutoring, Model United Nations, Key Club, and Science Olympiad.

Samuel Dancey
Samuel Dancey

Samuel Charles Dancey, son of Thomas Dancey and Cyndi Dancey, plans to seek a degree in Mechanical Engineering and pursue a career in private equity with a focus on leveraging his engineering background. Samuel’s high school activities include Deca, cabinet, swim, tennis, and FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics.

Elana Hadi
Elana Hadi

Elana Noor Hadi, daughter of Dr. Bassam Hadi and Laila Hadi, plans to seek a degree in mathematics. Elana’s high school activities include Student Government, Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, Civics and Constitution Club, robotics, tennis, and band.

Addison Harris
Addison Harris

Addison Isabella Harris, daughter of Chad Harris and Erica Harris, plans to seek a degree and career path in architecture. Addison’s high school activities include Future Business Leaders of America, Distributive Education Clubs of America, cabinet, Key Club, track, and soccer.

Alexandria Li
Alexandria Li

Alexandria Mei-Lian Jones Li, daughter of Cheryl Li, plans to seek a degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering. Alexandria’s high school activities include varsity cross-country, track and field, tennis, IB Ambassadors, IB Career-Related Programme, Key Club, and National Honor Society.

Allison Loughary
Allison Loughary

Allison Grace Loughary, daughter of Jeff Loughary and BriAnne Loughary, plans to seek a degree in biochemistry and pursue a career path in the research of pharmacology. Allison’s high school activities include Student Magazine, Key Club, International Baccalaureate Ambassadors, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, archery, and Book Club.

Miles Montgomery
Miles Montgomery

Miles Jude Montgomery, son of Dr. Josh Montgomery and Jennifer Montgomery, plans to attend Missouri State University to seek a degree in wildlife and fisheries biology. Miles’ high school activities include Envirothon, cross county, and golf.

Eli Moody
Eli Moody

Eli Padraic Moody, son of Thaddaeus Moody and Crystal Moody, plans to seek a degree in political science for a career in law. Eli’s high school activities include band, Speech and Debate, Book Club, A+ Tutoring, Civics and Constitution Club, and Model United Nations.

Shyam Patel
Shyam Patel

Shyam Jayesh Patel, son of Jayesh Patel and Nilam Patel, plans to seek a degree in computer science for a career in software engineering. Shyam’s high school activities include Photography Club, A+ Tutoring, IB Career-Related Programme, Future Business Leaders of America, Quiz Bowl, Diversity Club, Eastern Ideals Club, tennis, and archery.

Eliska Price
Eliska Price

Eliska Price, daughter of Michael Price and Kamila Price, plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis to seek a degree in psychological & brain sciences and a degree in French. She is interested in pursuing a career path as a research psychologist, interpreter, linguist, and other careers related to language. Eliska’s high school activities include Chamber & Concert Choir, National & State Honor Choir, A+ Tutoring, National Honor Society, French Honor Society, French Club, varsity cheer, dance team, orchestra, Model United Nations, Key Club, and IB Diploma Programme.

Katie Yu-Ting Su
Katie Yu-Ting Su

Katie Yu-Ting Su is the daughter of Dr. Wei-Han Su and Dr. Hye-Jung Hong. Katie plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis to seek a degree in biology for a career in medicine. Katie’s high school activities include Key Club, Health Occupations Students of America, Science Olympiad, and Math Team.

Madison Taylor
Madison Taylor

Madison Marie Taylor is the daughter of Lori Taylor. Madison plans to attend Purdue University to seek a degree in veterinary nursing. Madison’s high school activities include softball, Health Occupations Students of America, and copy editor for the school magazine.

Hannah Young
Hannah Young

Hannah Elizabeth Young is the daughter of Craig Young and Ann Young. Hannah plans to seek a degree in biology and pre-med. Hannah’s high school activities include member and current president of Health Occupations Students of America, and member and current co-captain of Science Olympiad Team.
