May 8—Anna's dad, Bob, is director of student services at Schlarman. Her mom, Zhanna, teaches a music appreciation class and started the Singing Toppers, an a cappella girls' choir.

Anna wouldn't have it any other way.

"I've had a lot of fun having my parents close by this year," she said.

Not that she sees much of them with such a hectic schedule. A four-year tennis player and Scholastic Bowl participant, she's a three-year class officer and two-year tutor in both math and science. She jumped at the chance to write for High School Confidential.

"The best part is being able to share the interesting things that go on in my school," she said. "Schlarman has so many awesome students and I've enjoyed sharing this part of my school community with everyone."

Next stop: The University of Illinois to study neuroscience.

"I am excited to see what comes next after high school but I don't think I am quite ready to be done just yet," she said.

Graduation is May 19.

"The highlight of my senior year has definitely been spending time with my friends in and outside of school," she said. "Since it is our last year together, we have been doing all the things we wanted to do during high school."
