May 15—Bromley Hall and the Kiwanis Club of Champaign-Urbana's annual fundraising breakfast go together like pancakes and sausage.

Since Day 1, the campus site and service club have worked hand in hand to benefit a variety of youth projects, from Little League to Little Free Libraries. This year's all-you-can-eat event is 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the popular high-rise at 910 S. Third St.

Bromley's Ed Coyne is happy to carry on a tradition started by Jim Graham in the mid-1990s, donating kitchen and dining room space, providing all the food and even cooking it for Kiwanis Club members to serve. Tickets are $7 (children under 3 eat for free) and available at the door.

"It's a way for us to give back to the community," Coyne said. "We want to make sure Kiwanis is able to fund all they do."

An added bonus: "It also gives people a chance to see Bromley and what we're about."

Another big one tap for the Kiwanis Club: Its 100th Illini men's basketball banquet on Sept. 3 at I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center. Just like Saturday's smorgasbord, it too will open to the public. We'll share details as they become available.
