1. Meet Heckerty

Free Ages 5-12 Overall rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars Why we like it: This e-book for iPad tells the story of Heckerty, a zany, rather silly witch who trying to improve her beauty for a passport photo. She's not helped by a case of the warts, snakes that live in her hair (touch to find them) or eyebrows that crawl around her face in a rather creepy way. The result is a high interest language experience. Need to know: Some of the visual effects can be unsettling, but they're offset by Heckerty's humorous tone. Ease of use: 10/10 Educational: 8/10 Entertaining: 7/10
