Raynham police officers fatally shot a 35-year-old man who pointed a handgun at them on Tuesday, one day after probation officers asked a judge to hold him without bail, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said. Prosecutors have released police body camera footage from the incident.

Southeastern, MA health care 'in crisis' even without hospital closings. How bad is it?

Amid the uncertain fate of Steward hospitals, State Sen. Marc Pacheco said Southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape and Islands “cannot withstand any further loss of healthcare in terms of hospital closings.”

He spoke at a state hearing in Taunton on April 24, on the precarious state of healthcare in this region of the state.

The hearing of the Senate Post Audit & Oversight Committee, which Pacheco chairs, took place against the backdrop of the ongoing financial crisis enveloping Steward Health Care, which owns eight hospitals in Massachusetts, including Morton Hospital in Taunton, Saint Anne’s in Fall River and Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Taunton filmmaker explores his own grief in 'The Painter'

Taunton artist and filmmaker Jimmy Martin grew up with a love for all arts.

The Boston University graduate has a bachelor’s in film and television, and he's hustled to find any opportunity he could get to work in the filmmaking industry and make connections for bigger projects.

His main focus is short films. His latest short film, "The Painter," delves into serious drama and deals with themes of grief and trauma associated with the death of a loved one.

Berkley resident brings cake pop and confectionery creations to Freetown shop

There's a new sweet spot in Freetown.

This confectionary shop isn't brand new though: it has made a name for itself in the SouthCoast over the past 10 years.

POP Culture - Cake Pops, Cookies and other Confections recently popped up at the 1 Chace Road plaza, near Crossroads Liquors, a welcome sight for nearby residents, according to owner Lisa Petrizzi-Geller, a Berkley resident.
