Top 10 highest-paying tech jobs in Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley’s jaw-dropping tech salaries are higher than ever.

That’s according to Glassdoor’s latest “Local Pay Reports for 2017,” which compiled updated salary data across 10 US markets, including New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Unsurprisingly, San Francisco — Silicon Valley’s unofficial capital — led the way in overall salary growth, rising 2.6% year-over-year this June, according to Glassdoor.

The highest paying gig? The so-called Data Scientist, who is essentially tasked with analyzing and interpreting large swaths of data. That role nets a median $137,395 a year — up 3.9% versus the year before — trailed by Solutions Architect ($126,262) and software engineer ($120,656). The results aren’t surprising given the boom in big data over the last several years. In fact, IDC estimates global revenues for big data and business analytics will eventually hit $203 billion by 2020.

Thanks in large part to the booming tech scene — which is driving the costly, local rental and real estate market — San Francisco continues to offer the highest median yearly pay by over $8,000, surpassing even New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
