Tony Awards Will Be Dedicated to Orlando Shooting Victims and Families

The first four names have been released

Sunday’s Tony Awards will be dedicated to the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting and their friends and family, the show said Sunday.

“Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando,” the Awards ceremony said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected.”

The shooter, identified as Omar Mateen of Port St. Lucie, Florida, killed 50 people at an Orlando gay nightclub. Authorities are investigating the incident, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, as an act of terrorism.
