WOODSTOCK, Ill. — A familiar face has been named grand marshal for this northwest suburban community’s pride celebrations.

Tom Skilling, who signed off as chief meteorologist of Chicago’s Very Own WGN-TV at the end of February after 45 years, will lead the Woodstock PrideFest parade and festival on June 9, officials announced.

“We are thrilled to have Tom as our grand marshal,” Woodstock Pride president and event coordinator Melissa McMahon said in a statement. “His participation is a great symbol of acceptance of all LGBTQIA+ individuals by all people and we know he will bring incredible energy and passion to the event.”

The “most colorful parade around” caps the two-day Pride event to celebrate the history and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
