Tom Patti takes early lead in Stockton Mayor race

(FOX40.COM) — Out of the six candidates, Tom Patti has taken an early lead in the race for Stockton Mayor.

Reported votes on Wednesday morning show Patti with 35.06% of vote with Christina Fugazi in second at 23.59%. Stockton City Councilmember Dan Wright is third with 18.43% of the vote.

If a candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, then they outright win the seat. The top two finishers move on to a runoff election in November if no candidate reaches over 50%.

The Stockton mayor seat became vacant after Kevin Lincoln launched a campaign to run for California’s 9th Congressional District, running as a Republican. Lincoln was elected as Stockton mayor in November 2020.

Patti is a current member of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, representing District 3. He was elected to that role in 2017 and his current term ends on Jan. 6, 2025.

In 2022, Patti ran against Democrat Josh Harder for California’s 9th congressional district, eventually losing in the November general election.

Fugazi previously served on the Stockton City Council in the District 5 seat from 2015 to 2022. Dan Wright has served in the District 2 Stockton City Council since 2015 and is current term is set to end on Dec. 31, 2024.

There are three city council races in Stockton in districts 2, 4 and 6.

Mariela Ponce leads the District 2 race with 39.26 % of the vote while former Stockton mayor Anthony Silva has 23.31% of the vote. Waqar Rizvi is third in the race at 22.80%.

District 4 is a close race with Gina Valadez-Bracamonte holding a 32.76% lead over Mario Enriquez, who has 29.51% of the vote.

Former reality TV star and celebrity blogger Jason Lee has an early lead in the District 6 race at 38.71%. Incumbent Kimberly Warmsley is second with 30.60% of the vote.
