There’s been a lot of buzz around Philadelphia lately, regarding Eagles quarterbacks. Sam Bradford wants out of Philly, we all know that by now, but is his agent actually helping, or hurting the case?

Tom Condon, mega-agent for a lot of NFL players around the league, has voiced his concerns for his client. He’s taken his concerns publicly to radio stations, newsletters, and to the Philadelphia Eagles. He doesn’t believe Bradford staying, with the Eagles, is worth either the club, or Bradford’s time. He does have a point, but our question is: Well, what did they expect?

Sam Bradford is set to make $18 million, this season, he’s already been paid $11 million for his signing bonus, and is making $7 million base salary for the season. He signed a two year/$35 million dollar deal, with the club, on March 1st. The Eagles can release him, during the 2017 offseason, and only take on $4 million in dead money, doing so.

Eagles executive Vice President Howie Roseman, knew exactly what he was doing when he drew up this contract. He, along with head coach Doug Pederson, fully expect, and want Sam Bradford, to be their starting quarterback in 2016. Beyond the 2016 season, the Eagles gave themselves an easy out, in Bradford’s contract, but his agent refused to acknowledge it.

The Eagles knew all along that they were going to make a move for Carson Wentz. They made it no secret they wanted to draft a quarterback. Whether or not, Tom Condon and Sam Bradford misinterpreted the team’s intentions, it’s their faults, not the Eagles. They signed, basically, a one-year deal, assumed it would eventually extend itself, and it backfired, badly.

Tom Condon has always been able to get top dollar, for most of his well known clients. From Drew Brees, to the Manning brothers, Tony Romo, Matt Stafford, and Sam Bradford. Condon has always accomplished getting them extremely well paid. He’s currently representing free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, as well, and is failing to agree to terms with the New York Jets, on a new deal. Salary, being the main issue.

The fact of the matter is, Tom Condon is overselling his average clients. Sam Bradford has never proven to be a franchise quarterback, yet he’s always been able to get handsomely paid as one. The Eagles offered him a contract that guaranteed him a starting job in 2016, with a starting salary. They also added an easy out in the contract also, but Tom Condon chose to ignore it, and advised his client to take the deal anyways.

The situation going on right now, is 100 percent Condon’s fault. He advised his client to sign, a nicely paid constructed contract, that only guaranteed him one year, with his current team. That team went ahead and made sure that was the only year to him guaranteed, by moving up in the first round, and selecting a quarterback.

Now Tom Condon has realized his mistake and is making sure his client is removed from the situation. Condon’s ego is damaged by the misguiding of his client, it’s hurting his reputation, and he’s on damage control. Unfortunately, he’s making the situation much worse. He’s painting a picture of Sam Bradford, through the media, as a quitter.

However, this situation pans out, Sam Bradford’s career will be in jeopardy. His reputation in Philadelphia is forever tarnished. He’s being viewed by the league, media, and fanbase as a quarterback who doesn’t like competition. The only people he has to blame for that, is his agent, and himself.
