Toddler shot in Cheatham County dies from injuries

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A toddler who was shot in the head Monday afternoon at a home in Cheatham County has died from his injuries.

The shooting happened at around 2 p.m. Monday, April 29 at a home on Hazel Drive in Henrietta.

The toddler, identified as a 3-year-old boy, was shot in the head and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center via LifeFlight helicopter where he was pronounced dead. The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday morning the little boy has died.

The sheriff said one other person was at the home at the time of the shooting and at this time, the shooting appears to be accidental.

Investigators conducted interviews concerning the shooting of the child, according to a release.

“Out of respect for the family and deceased child, the information and events surrounding this incident are limited. The family is asking for privacy during this time of mourning,” the press release stated.

The investigation is ongoing. No additional information was released.
