Todd Leva: Either democracy will prevail or fail

I am sure this will land well with the MAGA cult members out there. I am sure I will get more refined, intellectually sound emails grounded in solid logic … It is like MAGA has a “reply all” with their absurd, illogical, dangerous and delusional rantings. I am only hoping that as the conspiracies grow, they add to the overall list of conspiracy theories so we can keep them all straight.

I love that the level of intellect on the singular level leads to the utter ridiculous, like the Super Bowl being fixed for Biden via Taylor Swift. It is like watching a zombie movie. Droves of zombies walking aimlessly with no thoughts or reasonings until they hear a sound, then they attack.

This is where we are at, America! It is clear there is no bottom to this mass psychosis that we are witnessing. As the cultish grip tightens, MAGA believes whatever Trump may espouse, no matter its lunacy no matter how dangerous.

Meanwhile, Trump continues his grift. Before too long you will see the MAGA proud walking around in Trump's new $399 sneakers. Their hero, a convicted rapist, a man who now has been found guilty of fraud with fines approaching $500 million. Don’t forget the 90-some other charges this buffoon is facing either. Next up, criminal court in New York!

It is never lost on me either that Trump has single-handedly syphoned so much money out of MAGA and where is it going? The bulk of it is to his busloads of attorneys. You must hand it to Trump. He is a self-proclaimed billionaire who has suckered so many of the MAGA faithful from their own hard-earned money. Why does he do this? Because he can! He knows the zombie faithful are more than happy to fund their dictator in waiting, why would he stop now?

We knew the Supreme Court was never going to allow Trump to be taken off the ballots by individual states. I say good. This pathetic, hollow, narcissistic sociopath needs to be beat once again in the general election. Trump and Trumpism can be dumped into the ash heap of history once and for all.

It was merely a blink of an eye ago and you could not be a Republican seeking office if you did not pay homage to Ronald Reagan. What did Reagan do that required such devotion? Among his accomplishments, he stared down actual communism in the Soviet Union. Oh, how his party has fallen. Today’s Republicans want to celebrate Putin and Russia, they want to watch Russia steamroll Ukraine, all the while denouncing NATO. It would be a tragic comedy if it was so dangerous.

Russia is watching with glee every day the U.S. House holds up funding to Ukraine. The stance that MAGA has taken towards Russia and Putin is equally deadly to Ukrainians who are on the battlefield. It is shameful.

America has a choice. Will we stand for democracy, or will we stand for lies, conspiracy theories, vengefulness and hate led by America's most dangerous sociopath? Is this really how America falls? Will our story be that the greatest nation was destroyed from within by one man who laid waste and destruction to our institutions of government? Think of all the Americans that came before us, the sacrifices they made, and here we are as a nation, on their blood sweat and tears, on the tipping point of an abyss.

I refuse to be quiet about Trump and his sycophants. Too much is on the line. I refuse to believe that our nation has fallen so far that we will allow one pathetic, despicable, shallow narcissist be our downfall. This is not about President Biden vs Donald Trump. I could not care less about MAGA’s opinions on Biden. I am not writing this for Biden's sake. I am writing it because it needs to be written, not just by me, but by the exhausted majority out there.

This election in November could not be any clearer, any starker — it has come down to whether American democracy prevails or not. It is that simple because if Trump wins, America in that moment will cease to be America.
