Here is a look at the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks rushing matchup before their week three NFL game. Please note we have switched to all 2017 stats with two weeks behind us.

The Seahawks utilize all seven spots somewhat equally except for behind the left guard. They have only run once in that direction while the Titans have only had to defense runs in that direction twice. The several year trend of teams running up the middle on the Titans continues in 2017. Daquan Jones replacing Sylvester Williams has been a good switch for the Titans. Their 6+ average of allowed yards per carry is down to 4.67. It’s an improvement but being 20th ranked in a 32 team league isn’t “anything to write home about.” The ‘Hawks average a whopping 10.67 yards per carry up the middle. That’s phenomenal and “scary” for the Titans defense. The Seahawks average less than four yards everywhere else, so it seems a foregone conclusion that they will pound the rock up the middle of the Titans defense. The Titans best nose tackle, Antwaun Woods, is still on the practice squad. The Titans have made some roster moves recently, hopefully, they will activate Woods before the Seahawks come to town.

The Titans love to run behind their tackles and tight ends. They often run behind Taylor Lewan and Phillip Supernaw around the left end. The Titans average 6.46 yards per carry there. The Seahawks only allow 3.43 yards per carry around the left corner. This is sure to be tested. The Seahawks allow a horrific 12.08 yards per carry right in front of the Titans best offensive lineman. The Titans have only ran it there three times, but that is likely to change this week. They “have to” test the Hawks there. The Titans averaged 5.24 ypc on runs up the middle while the Seahawks allow an average of 5.09. Those numbers fit nicely and should be a spot the Titans attack as well.
