Tioga County Pa. nonprofits take part in 30-hour online giving campaign

TIOGA COUNTY, Pa. (WETM) – Raise the Region is an online giving campaign that allows community members to raise money for local nonprofits in North Central Pennsylvania, and 41 Tioga County, Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations are participating this year.

During the campaign, community members have 30 hours to raise as much money as possible for participating nonprofits. These donations will help each organization address increasing needs in the North Central PA region.

This year’s campaign began at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.

All participating nonprofits are competing for prizes donated by campaign sponsors based on its ranking on the campaign’s leaderboard. Leaderboard rankings are dependent on the amount of “gifts” donated to the nonprofit within certain time frames on Thursday night.

Prizes include the First Citizens Community Bank Checkered Flag prize, Subaru’s White Flag prize and UPMC’s 100 Reasons to Give prize, all of which allot a certain donation prize amount to the winning organization.

If you’re interested in contributing to the campaign, there’s still time.

You can donate to the campaign online by searching for the nonprofit you would like to support. Donations must be a minimum of $25 and cannot be made by a participating organization.

The online campaign spans around Northcentral PA and includes Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Tioga and Union counties.
