Tioga County, NY man sentenced for child pornography

MARCY, N.Y. (WETM) – A Tioga County man has been sentenced to serve time in federal prison after he admitted to having child pornography back in December.

According to United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, David P. VanHousen, 54, formerly of Newark Valley, was sentenced on Thursday, April 18, to serve 13 years and four months in prison for possession of child pornography.

He pleaded guilty back on Dec. 12, while committed at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy for several sex offense and child porn-related convictions, where he admitted to having numerous photos and videos of child porn on a phone.

VanHousen has faced previous convictions for sex-related crimes that date back to 2001, where he was convicted of sexual misconduct and rape in the third degree in New York State court and transportation of child pornography in federal court.

In addition to his prison sentence, VanHousen has also been sentenced to serve a life term of supervised release once he is out of prison, where he will be required to register as a sex offender, by U.S. District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby.
