Tio Leo’s location in North County to close

POWAY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A popular Mexican restaurant in Poway is closing its doors after five years of business.

Tio Leo’s Cantina & Mexican Restaurant, located at 12205 Scripps Poway Pkwy Ste. E101, will serve its last meals on May 26, the company said on Facebook Wednesday.

“From our Poway Tio Leo’s table to yours…Thank you for the loyalty and memories through the years, it’s been our pleasure serving you and your family in Scripps Ranch, Poway, and the greater SD area!,” the social media post read.

San Diego restaurants react to new state law outlawing surcharges

The restaurant did not state why they are shutting down, but mentioned it was a “difficult decision.

In December, Tio Leo’s Grantville location on Mission Gorge Rd. closed due to the owner’s retirement. That restaurant was first opened in 1979.

However, there is still a Tio Leo’s running in the Morena neighborhood at 5302 Napa St.
