Say what you will about John Mayer, but you've got to hand it to him: the guy has a way with the ladies.

The smooth crooner may have a history of over-sharing (who could forget him tellingPlayboythat Jessica Simpson was like "sexual napalm" in the sack?), but he's still managed to date an impressive lineup of Hollywood's loveliest ladies, includingthe recently divorced Katy Perry.

In fact, we couldn't help but notice that a surprising number of Mayer's lady lovesarenewly single, as if the singer-songwriter were lurking around the corner, waiting to strum "Your Body is a Wonderland" at the ready to cure them of their breakup blues.

We might be on to something. In November 2010, a friend of Mayer'stold The Huffington Post's Rob Shuterthat "there is something about newly-divorced ladies that drives him nuts."

After nine months of on-again-off-again dating, the pair <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20039447,00.html">split in May 2007</a>. In 2010, Mayer famously gave a very honest account of Simpson's bedroom skills in an <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/10/john-mayer-jessica-simpso_n_456566.html">interview with <em>Playboy</em> magazine</a>.
