Tina Fey Steals the Show at the SAG Awards, Too

Just two weeks after she and Amy Poehler knocked everybody's socks off at the Golden Globes Award, Tina Fey stole the show at Sunday's Screen Actor's Guild awards, if only for a few moments. She did not host the event nor did she win the most awards -- just one for Best Actress for the 30 Rock. She did not necessarily wear the most dramatic dress -- Anne Hathaway is the leader in that category. And she did not do anything memorably inappropriate -- neither did anyone really.

Tina Fey did, however, have the most tweetable acceptance speech. She even managed to squeeze Amy Poehler in there so that the two could almost be united on another awards show stage. "I share this with my sweet friend Amy Poehler," Fey said, clutching her award. "I've stolen so many of your moves. I've known you since you were pregnant with Lena Dunham and I love you!"

So maybe that's not exactly stealing the show, but there's not much of a show to steal. Free from the booze-fueled bombast of the Golden Globes and lacking the prestige of the Oscars, the SAG Awards have been quiet, bookish little sister to the other awards show. It's only been around since 1995, and while the other shows air on major networks, SAG is a cable television affair. (It's on TBS lately.) But everybody still shows up, with the tuxedos and the gowns and the tweetable acceptance speeches.

It's special because it's all about the actors. "We don't get together as much as people think we do -- tonight is just about hanging out with each other and celebrating with each other," Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet told the press after his show won their their third ensemble cast award in three years. "Winning this award oddly feels more special than winning an Emmy because we know actors are voting for this. To be here and to win it three years in a row is cause for celebration."
