Time Warner Cable Experienced a Major Internet Outage This Morning

This post has been updated.

Time Warner Cable is experiencing major outages at this time. People all over the country are reporting disruptions in service for the cable internet.

Even their own website was not working and phone calls to the company are going unanswered:

While nothing indicates this is beyond a normal outage, some users are speculating a hack:

The issue is also occurring abroad:

On the bright side, its really bringing everyone together (in a giant, collective rage storm):

Most of the complaints are just in regards to Internet service, however, some note that cable television is down as well. The Wire attempted to call Time Warner Cable to confirm the issue and find a resolution time, unfortunately, their phones are down.

More than an hour after outages were first reported, their customer service Twitter account finally acknowledged the outage.

And here's another outage map from early this morning.

Update (7:30 a.m.): Some users are reporting that their internet connections are slowly coming back, after being down in the early morning.

Update (8:00 a.m.): Time Warner spokesperson issued a statement to reporters explaining the disruption and says that service is largely restored. We're also getting reports from users in New York and Los Angeles who say their internet is back up:

At 4:30 a.m. ET today, during routine network maintenance, an issue with our Internet backbone created disruption with our Internet and On Demand serices. At of 6 a.m. ET services were largely restored, as updates continue to bring all affected customers back online"

While services appear largely restored, the @TWC_Help and @TWC accounts continues to be bombarded with assistances for help and, well, trolling:
