It’s time to vote for the Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for March 25

Regional play has kicked into high gear across the Mississippi Coast as teams begin fighting for position on the diamond.

Baseball and softball players turned in big outings to help propel their teams to critical mid-season victories.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on April 1, at sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Tri Gaughf, Harrison Central baseball: Gaughf had seven hits over the week with three doubles and seven RBIs. He also pitched six innings with seven strikeouts.

  • Asher Henley, Vancleave baseball: Henley had six hits, a double, a triple, two hit-by-pitches, two walks and three RBIs in the rivalry series against East Central.

  • Caroline Woodward, Gulfport softball: Woodward struck out 13 batters in nine innings across two games while working a 1.62 ERA. She also had three hits in six at-bats.

  • Reeana Williams, Stone softball: Williams had six hits, three double and seven RBIs across three wins.

  • Emma Franklin, D’Iberville softball: Franklin pitched an eight-strikeout shutout against Gulfport with only three hits allowed.

  • Kassie Sonnier, Vancleave softball: Sonnier had four hits over the week with a double, two runs and four RBIs. Also recorded an outfield assist from center field.

  • Kevon Ford, Moss Point baseball: Ford had three hits, a double, three runs scored and four RBIs in a win against Williamson.
