Todd Haley, the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is the mastermind behind the Steelers’ offensive success. Many people give credit to Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and the offensive line and rightfully so. However, Haley has made these players better.

In 2012, when Haley first arrived, the Steelers offense was shaky. The team went 8-8, and most if not all fans wanted Bruce Arians back. Haley and Roethlisberger didn’t gel that first year.

In Haley’s second year with the Steelers, they produced the same record, but Ben’s numbers went up tremendously. In Haley’s third and fourth year, the Steelers have had one of the most dominating offenses in the NFL.

I must admit, I was one of those fans who cheered when Arians retired/fired, and wanted him back when I saw what Haley brought to the table. I was also waiting for Haley to go off on one of his players on the sideline. Haley has been known to be a “hot-head”, but in Pittsburgh he is keeping his cool. And as my wife always says: I was completely wrong.

Haley has also matured in his offensive mindset (it has to help that he has Ben Roethlisberger). He is has gone away from his thought process of having a scat-back. It may have worked in Kansas City, but it was an epic fail in Pittsburgh. We all make mistakes; the key is to learn from them which Haley has.

The Steelers enter the 2016 season as one of the top teams in the NFL. Yes, the Steelers have superstars and they should get plenty of credit. But, we also must credit the mastermind of this offense: Todd Haley. He has turned this offense around. And I only see him getting this team better.
