McDonald's has been making headlines recently for everything from its partnerships with UberEATS to oddly censored Mindy Kaling commercials to healthier upgrades to its ingredients. Now the Golden Arches is celebrating summer by bringing back an oldie-but-goodie, the Rolo McFlurry.

Last served in 2012, the ice cream treat swirls the iconic caramel-filled chocolate candies with vanilla soft serve. Of course, this will only be served for a limited time from May 24 to September 11. Funnily enough, this timing coincides with the chain's transition to a soft serve made with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, which began in 2016 and is now nearly complete, the company noted in a press release.

This change impacts 60 percent of McDonald's desserts, including soft serve cones, McFlurry's, and milkshakes. Additionally, strawberry and chocolate milkshakes are now made without high-fructose corn syrup.

McDonald's normally serves M&M's and Oreo flavor McFlurry's, and has released other special-edition flavors like Butterfinger, Twix, and Snickers in the past. Judging from Twitter reactions, people are hyped to have this chewy, caramelized McFlurry back on the menu.
