Time to reserve a dedication to help Kansas veterans

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An annual event in Wichita raises money for veterans in south-central Kansas. The event allows people to donate to a good cause while honoring their loved ones who serve or have served in the armed forces.

The event is Flags of Freedom. For two weeks up to and including Memorial Day, 600 American flags are displayed in the field next to the Machinists’ building at Interstate 235 and Meridian.

The United Way of the Plains and Machinists District Lodge #70 hosts the display. They also raise money to support United Way veterans assistance programs.

People can buy $30 dedications with the name of their military loved one. The dedications will be on the the event’s website from now until Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The website will display the person’s name, branch of service, rank and a short personal tribute.
