Tikkun Farm, a Mt. Healthy nonprofit that feeds ands serves the local community, suffered a devastating fire, according to a Facebook announcement posted on Dec. 24.

The fire caused a "complete loss" of the farm's main house, living space and headquarters.

The Enquirer called Tikkun Farm to learn the cause of the fire but was unable to reach them Monday evening.

The Fibonacci Brewing Company, a nanobrewery in Mt. Healthy, posted on Facebook that they had started a GoFundMe to raise funds to assist in the farm's recovery.

The nonprofit's primary need is a location, like a tiny house or mobile unit, that can be used for volunteers and staff to work on-site, according to the GoFundMe post.

Tikkun Farm was created by Mary Laymon and Greg York in 2015 to "be a place of healing, repair and restoration" for people and the community, according to their website.

Programming on the 3.5-acre farm includes:

  • An on-site free pantry that serves 33,000 people annually and distributes over 30,000 pounds of food each month.

  • A crockpot meal program that serves approximately 1100 meals each month.

  • Job-training programs for youth.

  • Healing arts programs.

  • A place for refugees to grow their own food.
