Tiffany Drive fire is ruled accidental

Oct. 12—A fire that damaged a home in Dunmore on Wednesday night has been ruled accidental, a state police fire marshal said Thursday.

The fire at 61 Tiffany Drive started at 5:37 p.m. in the home's attached garage. When borough fire crews arrived, they found the garage engulfed in flames that spread to the rest of the house.

The home is owned by siblings and co-trustees Donna M. DelRosso, Peter Barrasse Jr., Joseph Barrasse, William Barrasse and David Barrasse, according to the deed. The home has been in their family since 1983.

Paul DelRosso, Donna DelRosso's husband, said the flames cut through the center of the home and burned through the roof. His mother-in-law, listed in county records as Helen Barrasse, lived there and was not hurt.

Precisely how the fire started is still under investigation, though Trooper Nicholas DeSantis, a state police fire marshal, said he found no suspicious circumstances.

The bulk of the fire was extinguished by 7:30 p.m., though firefighters remained there longer. A tanker task force shuttled water to the scene.

Two borough firefighters were treated and released from medical care for minor injuries suffered fighting the blaze, Fire Chief Christopher DeNaples said. They were identified as David Price and Chris Cichocki.

DeNaples said one of the firefighters suffered a strain and the other was hit in the shoulder by a board.
