13-year-old arrested, among 3 suspects armed with AR rifle in a crime spree, violent home invasion
HUMBLE, Texas - Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Deputies are investigating what they describe as a home invasion that occurred Monday morning in Humble.
Constable Mark Herman says three men broke into a home in the 16300 block of Tulipan Spring Trail and held the occupant at gunpoint with rifles.
The suspects fired shots inside the home and fled the scene in the Dodge Ram they arrived in and also stole the victim's jeep.
A 13-year-old boy is one of two teens under arrest after investigators say they went on a crime spree overnight with an AR Rifle in the Atascocita, Humble area. A third young man is still on the run.
Detectives say the kids, just 13 and 18 years old, carried out a number of crimes early Monday morning, including a violent home invasion, shooting their way into a house in the Groves Sub-Division and terrorizing the family.
Several of the crimes were caught on camera.
A lot of kids were captured by cameras in the last few hours for Mother's Day photos, but this is far from that. Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables say doorbell camera footage shows the boys, particularly good video of the young man who they're still searching for, stealing from one of the cars.
Just after 4:30 a.m., the teens are said to have ripped the Ring doorbell from a house on Tulipan Spring Trail and deputies say, armed with an AR assault style rifle, the kids shot their way through the family's back door, opened fire again once inside and robbed the dad, mom, and three kids at gunpoint.
The boys stole several things from the family, according to Precinct 4, including their white Jeep Cherokee.
"The vehicle is recovered. They actually crashed it out, somewhere down the road. They crashed into a concrete embankment," says Precinct 4 Captain Vicente Medina.
"It's just scary. It's creepy. It's gross. Now I walk into my house and I get an eerie feeling because you never know," says a neighbor named Jennifer.
"When the constable got here, my car door was open, and I did leave my garage door open last night," explains neighbor Chancy, who isn't sure if the intruders tried to get into his home. Chancy recently moved to Texas from California.
"And I feel like ain't nobody worse than California, right? So I'm a little care free, but this is too close to home," says Chancy.

Investigators say the boys stole from several vehicles then ambushed and robbed a man who was about to head to work.
"He was confronted and assaulted, and they took a phone and some property from him," Medina explains.
Within minutes, a deputy spotted the boys in a white Ram pick-up truck and arrested the 18 and 13-year-old. The third young man is still on the loose. Medina says all the stolen items were still inside the pick-up.
"It's unfortunate, very unfortunate. I can't understand how a 13-year-old gets mixed up with an 18-year-old and goes out and does these things," said Medina.
So why did they select that house to carry out a violent home invasion? Medina said it seems the house was chosen completely at random.
