PECKVILLE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We’re only months away from a thousand-year-old tradition, but the St. Ubaldo Society gathered for a dinner in preparation of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend fun.

The Saint Ubaldo Society hosted its annual Three Saints party Saturday night at Fiorellis Catering in Peckville.

The special dinner event is one of many to help raise money for the big St. Ubaldo celebrations up ahead.

The society Perpetuatea and promotes the very old traditions of Gubbio, Italy, and “La Festa Dei Ceri”, which was brought to Jessup by Italian immigrants in the 1900s.

A culture passed from generation to generation.

“At the honor in 2014, I let my team down the street, and Jessup before that was my father and before that was in a just cause open to anybody I mean they want to get involved you come on up and will play on a team will have all the fun but now seeing it I have children now seeing the day through their eyes that’s what matters,” explained Ronald Augelli.

“La Festa Dei Ceri” takes place at the end of May when the community comes together to honor Saint Ubaldo, Saint George, and Saint Anthony by taking part in a race.
