A six-year-old Mississippi boy was fatally shot in the back of the head on Thursday (May 18), by three 17-year-old teens, The Grio reports. After his mother, Ebony Archie, left him alone in her car while she shopped at a Kroger grocery store around 1:15 A.M., someone sped off with Kingston Frazier still in the back seat.

According to a recent press conference, authorities said they began to fill out a missing car report when they realized the young child was also missing. At 4:45 A.M., officers issued an Amber Alert, but around 9:30 A.M., Fraizer was found dead in the back seat of the car, which was stationed several miles away from the convenience store.

Frazier’s parents found out about the news while the press conference was underway. Raw footage of the address shows the family dissolving into tears. However, this violates a breach of protocol for Jackson, Miss., authorities who have to first inform the deceased’s kin of their death before they speak to the media.

The teens reportedly responsible for the murder; Byron McBride, D’Allen Washington, and Dwan Wakefield were arrested and charged with capital murder. They are being held without bail.

“It’s hard to know that people out there are evil, that would kill a child,” Velma Eddington, Frazier’s great-aunt, said to The Clarion-Ledger. “That’s evil. That baby hadn’t done anything to him. That baby hadn’t done nothing. They could have left that child on that back seat, asleep. They didn’t have to kill him. Those people are evil. Evil.”
