Three City of Woodward commissioners reconfirmed

May 10—Woodward Mayor Tom Fisher will lead the city for another term after he was nominated as mayor for a second term by Woodward City Commissioners on Monday evening.

Also reconfirmed to continue serving the city were At Large Commissioner Hunter Wellman, Ward 2 Commissioner John Brown, and And Ward 1 Commissioner Debbie Covalt. Wellman was elected Mayor Pro-Tem.

In other business, the city approved three interlocal agreements with Woodward County regarding the community service sentencing program, 911 call center use, and the youth fire safety and burn prevention program.

These are annual agreements with the county and nothing has been changed since last year. County commissioners approved them earlier that morning, said Woodward City Manager Shaun Barnett.

The City Commission consent docket contained routine minutes, financial reports, two facilities use agreements, and votes for Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG). All the items on the consent docket were approved.

One of the facilities use agreements on the consent docket was for Big Five Community Services Inc, to use Crystal Beach Park/Lake for a 'family fun day' on April 30. The organization is a not-for-profit family services group based in Durant.

The other use agreement was with 101 Classic Bowl Foundation, Inc, on behalf of D& C Pride of Texas, for the use of Horseshoe Pitching Courts to have a carnival May 13-19.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Authority consent docket only contained the routine approval of minutes and financial reports.

The only item on the Municipal Authority agenda, besides the consent docket, was a change order from G & L Tank Sandblasting and Coatings, LLC., regarding the Woodward 4 million gallon Ground Storage Tank Rehabilitation project .

The change comes from unforeseen damage to the crow's nest and rolled roof beams, as well as changing the replacement vent size from 24" to 36" adding $23,000 to the original $529,625.00 contract price, totaling to $552,625.00.
