Three adults face charges after kids, drugs found locked in the back of U-Haul in Tennessee

COCKE CO., Tenn. - Three adults from Hendersonville, North Carolina are facing child endangerment and drug possession charges after a traffic stop in Cocke County found three small children in the back of a U-Haul.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials found three children all under the age of 8 in the back of a white U-Haul truck, along with cocaine, meth and marijuana Wednesday night according to a THP report.

Lakista Williams, 40 year-old Willie Green Jr. and 38 year-old Eric Larue, are all facing child endangerment and drug possession charges.

Williams is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, while Larue also faces charges for not having a license and failing to maintain lane of travel.

The report said that a bystander called in a tip after seeing a few small children locked in the back of a white U-Haul truck at the I-40 446 Welcome Center.

The report said that when the officers issued the traffic stop, they could smell a strong scent of marijuana from inside the cab of the truck. When they asked the passengers about the smell, the middle passenger produced a small amount of marijuana. Upon further search, the other drugs along with drug paraphernalia was found.
