THPD: Motorcyclist arrested after crash with injury

May 20—A motorcycle driver was arrested Sunday evening after an accident sent one of his two juvenile passengers to an Indianapolis hospital, the Terre Haute Police Department said.

About 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a truck versus motorcycle accident at the intersection of North 13th Street and Fort Harrison Road.

The motorcycle was driven by an adult male accompanied by two juvenile passengers.

Preliminary investigation showed that the truck, towing a camper, was preparing to turn into a nearby gas station parking lot when the northbound motorcycle lost control and laid down on its side.

The driver and two juvenile passengers on the motorcycle sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital. One of the juveniles was later transferred to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle, Donald R. Orman, 36, of Terre Haute, was arrested on charges including criminal recklessness/aggressive driving resulting in serious bodily injury or death, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury or death.

This incident remains under active investigation, and further details may be released as they become available, police said.
