Thousands of SDG&E customers left without power in South Bay

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Over 4,500 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were reported to be without power Thursday morning in the South Bay due to outages.

The earliest outage was reported at 6:27 a.m. in the neighborhoods of Chula Vista and Bonita, according to SDG&E’s outage map. As of 11 a.m., 4,355 customers were without out lights in Chula Vista, while 201 were affected in Bonita.

The estimated restoration time for both areas was originally slated for 2 p.m. Thursday, according to SDG&E. However, all customers were restored around noon.

Then at 12:03 p.m., SDG&E reported another outage affecting almost 8,000 customers in the neighborhoods of Nestor, San Ysidro and Otay Mesa. The initial restoration time was listed as 2:30 p.m. At 1:20 p.m., all power in these areas was reported to be back on.
