Thousands of illegal marijuana plants found in Jupiter

(FOX40.COM) — A joint law enforcement operation in Tuolumne County resulted in the seizure of several thousand illegal marijuana plants in the remote area of Jupiter, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

The State of California Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force (UCETF) assisted the sheriff’s office in seizing 10,000 plants, where several environmental violations were also discovered.

During these types of operations, the sheriff’s office says that their mission is to investigate illegal firearms, narcotics and trafficking that are “commonly” uncovered during illegal grow busts.

Jupiter is located an hour north of the City of Sonora along twisting forest roads and nearly three hours from Sacramento.

The State of California Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force was created in 2022 by Governor Newsom “to better align state efforts and increase cannabis enforcement coordination between state, local and federal partners.”

Partnering agencies of the UCETF include the Department of Cannabis Control, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Homeland Security Division of Cal OES.
