TECO restores power after outage causes thousands of customers to go dark

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa Electric has restored power after an outage caused thousands of customers in Hillsborough County to go dark on St. Patrick’s Day.

As of 2:45 p.m. Sunday, approximately 15 customers are without power, according to TECO’s power outage map. However, those customers are not within the initial power outage area.

The outage appeared to have impacted residents near TECO’s power plant in the Apollo Beach, Island Walk, Covington Park, and Lake St. Clair areas in Hillsborough County.
