Thousands Flee East Aleppo for Kurdish-Controlled District on North Edge of City

Kurdish media said on November 28 that more than 8,000 civilians had arrived in the Kurdish-controlled Sheikh Maqsoud area of Aleppo after leaving east Aleppo neighborhoods where the Syrian Army had advanced.

Reuters quoted a phone call with one Kurdish commander, who said 6,000-10,000 had fled into Kurdish-controlled areas in the past two days.

Kurdish media reported that thousands had also arrived to Bustan Basha and Hallak in northeast Aleppo. Kurdish forces and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said these two areas had been claimed by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.

The Syrian state broadcaster SANA reported the advance by the Syrian Army into several rebel-held areas of east Aleppo.
