Thousand Oaks woman allegedly rams 3 Ventura County Sheriff's vehicles, flees

A Thousand Oaks woman was arrested Monday morning after she allegedly led officers on a high-speed pursuit and rammed her SUV into three Ventura County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars.

The 29-year-old is facing a number of charges related to the pursuit and for drug possession.

The incident began around 12:45 a.m. in the area of Lynn and Kelly roads in Thousand Oaks when deputies attempted to stop a white, Mazda SUV for a speeding violation, said Sheriff’s Capt. James Sullivan. The sheriff's office is contracted to provide police services to the city of Thousand Oaks.

When deputies pulled over the SUV and spoke to the driver, they determined she had an active warrant for other alleged crimes and told her she was under arrest. While deputies attempted to remove her from the car, she jumped back in, closed the door and sped away, Sullivan said.

The hour-long, high-speed pursuit began when the woman entered the southbound 101 Freeway at Lynn Road, he said. As deputies gave chase, the woman drove in both directions of Highway 101 and on Highway 23, Sullivan said.

At one point, the driver exited the 101 at Los Virgenes Road into a residential area and then rammed into three marked sheriff’s vehicles, he said.

After getting back on the northbound 101 Freeway, the pursuit continued until the California Highway Patrol took over in the area of Westlake Boulevard.

After exiting the 101, the CHP used a maneuver in which they spun the suspect's SUV sideways and ended the pursuit near Lost Hills and Las Virgenes roads, he said. The driver was taken into custody around 2 a.m., the sheriff's captain said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, three counts of hit and run, two counts of possession of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance for sales, Sullivan said.

Neither the deputies nor the woman were injured during the incident, he said. The sheriff’s office is investigating.
