Third man charged in connection to murder of 10-year-old Arianna Davis

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it arrested a third man in connection to the 2023 Mother’s Day shooting that killed 10-year-old Arianna Davis.

Police said that on March 6, they charged 24-year-old Charles Edward Owens with First Degree Murder while Armed.

Owens was already in custody.

On May 14, 2023, at about 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of Hayes St., Northeast for the sounds of gunshots and found evidence of a shooting.

A short time later, 10-year-old Davis, who was shot, was brought to a DC Fire and EMS station.

She died days later at the hospital on May 17, 2023.

Officers learned Arianna was in the passenger seat of a car with her family when she was struck by a stray bullet.

Police have already arrested and charged two 19-year-old men, both of Southeast D.C., with First-Degree Murder while Armed.
