Sure, it's parade weekend and in addition to the annual march through Newport there are plenty of St. Patrick's Day-related events happening, but that's not all that's taking place.

If you're looking to ditch the green and pass on the corned beef, you can head out and take in some art, catch a concert or even see a play.

Hollow is described as an untamable force of nature. Hailing from Nashville by way of Montague, Massachusetts, the Berklee College Of Music graduate is bringing a much needed revival to rock with her fresh innocence and serious talent. Like a blend of Jimmy Page, Brandi Carlile, and Chris Stapleton, Jax Hollow is a performer that's here to stay with her incredible musical chops, heart-piercing voice, and authentic songwriting ability.

The Spring Bull Gallery will hold an opening reception on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. for its annual spring exhibit "Colors of Spring."

This juried exhibit features more than 60 works of original art in a variety of media by many local artists, each selected by distinguished juror Del-Bourree Bach. Bach’s work is included in private and public collections, represented in galleries throughout the country and has received over 250 regional, national and international awards.

Award of Merit will be presented along with remarks by the juror during the opening reception.

'An hour with Eleanor'

'An hour with Eleanor' by Cynthia Truesdale Krause will be performed at Four Corners Gallery in Tiverton on Sunday at 4 p.m. Admission is free but reservations are advised, email fourcornersgalleryri@gmail.com for more information.

Playwright Cynthia Truesdale Krause plays Eleanor Roosevelt in a reader's theater along with music and images.

Eleanor made its local debut at the Marion Art Center where it was the winner of their Playwriting Incubator contest.Cynthia is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BA in History and a MS in Education. She divides her time between Westport Harbor with her Truesdale clan and New York City where she was involved in the Amateur Comedy Club and was the lead in an Agatha Christie play.

Tour the Touro Synagogue

Touro Synagogue reopened for tours on March 3 and is offering six tours every Sunday during March. The tours are offered every 45 minutes starting at 10 a.m., with the last tour commencing at 1:45 p.m.

Visit the oldest synagogue in the United States and learn why Touro Synagogue is an architectural masterpiece and why it stands as a symbol of religious freedom for all Americans.

In addition to the award-winning presentations by knowledgeable and engaging guides, visitors may explore two floors of interactive exhibits at the Loeb Visitors Center and enjoy the beautiful gardens and grounds, steps from Washington Square in the heart of historic Newport.

Tour admission fees include interactive exhibits in the Loeb Visitors Center and are adults: $14; Seniors: $12; Students: $10 (13–21 years), NTHP, NPS, Military (not active-duty); No Fee: Children 12 and younger, Active-duty military, Newport residents (id required).
