THEORY: Santa is Actually a Wizard from "Harry Potter"

From Seventeen

You guys remember Santa Claus, right? Jolly fat guy? Bowl full of jelly? Lives in the North Pole?

Well, who is this Santa, you might ask? And where did he come from? Some legends say that he was Saint Nicholas, a fourth-century Greek bishop and gift-giver of Myra, whereas others maintain he is the pagan god Wodan.

Now, however, one clever redditor named TheSortingSombrero has proven that Santa is, in fact, a wizard in the Harry Potter world.

If you look at the facts, it all totally makes sense.

For example, one of the biggest controversies about Santa in the muggle world is how such a fat guy can slip in through the chimney. Well, obviously, it's FLOO POWDER.

This also answers the age-old question of how he gets into homes that don't have chimneys: he probably just apparates.

And if someone accidentally sees him, a simple Obliviate charm will sort that right out. Or perhaps he's also got an Invisibility Cloak.

The other big question mark around Santa is: how does he manage to deliver alllll of those presents in just one night? Well, obviously, he uses a Time-Turner.

And how does he fit all of those presents into one big bag? Well, by using an extension charm of course (like, seriously, is Hermione actually Santa?)

He presumably has a magical flying carriage like the one used by Beauxbatons. Now, granted, that was pulled by a dozen winged horses, not eight reindeer, but no reason he couldn't use the latter.

There's even some speculation that perhaps Rudolph is a stag Patronus like Harry's, which Santa uses to ward off Dementors trying to steal all of the happiness of the world on the most magical of nights.

All of the elves that make those toys are clearly House Elves. Now, if he lives in the North Pole in a magical factory where no one can find him, it's possible it's been made unplottable via magical protection spells like Hogwarts.

However, the OP has a more sinister theory:

"Maybe he broke Clause 73 of the International Statue of Wizarding Secrecy by performing magic so openly for millions of muggles. So he has to hide on the North Pole, which is technically in international waters."

So, Santa is like a vigilante who's eternally on the run from his own kind simply so he can bring joy and the spirit of magic to ordinary muggles all over the world. Now I love him even more. Thanks Santa!
