The Pac-12 and U.S. women win the Olympics


The 2016 Rio Games have come to an end, but a four-year-long period of bragging rights is just beginning for athletes, their countries and their colleges.

If the Pac-12 were a country, the conference would’ve finished 5th in the world with 55 Olympic medals won in Rio.

Besting even the Pac-12 were U.S. women who won 61 medals at the Rio Games. Had the ladies of the USA been their own nation, they would’ve finished the Olympics in 4th place overall, just behind Great Britain.

The Education Amendments of 1972’s Title IX is credited with catapulting girls and women’s substantial participation in sports in the U.S.
