The letters are falling off Google's Nexus phones and tablets

Give me an “N!” Give me an “E!” No, really, I need them. They fell off my Nexus 5.

Some owners of Google's Nexus 5 smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet devices are complaining of losing the shiny plastic NEXUS letters from the backs of their phones and tablets (like the two Nexus 5s shown below), according to tech sites and forum posts from around the Web. In most of these instances, the glue that holds the letters in place has seemingly given out.

One Nexus 7 owner from the mobile device forum XDA actually claimed to have seen the glue begin to seep out from around the letters, so the user removed all of the glue and plastic (shown below). Though the device cleaned up nicely, we assume most would rather hang on to their fairly elegant looking Nexus logo.

The Nexus 5 has received generally glowing reviews from tech critics, with the bulk of complaints surrounding the phone's camera; Google is apparently fixing that problem with a forthcoming update to the Android operating system. Fixing runaway letters on the device itself, however, might be a little more difficult.

We've reached out to Google for comment, but they have not yet responded. Though the epidemic seems to only be affecting a small number of users right now, we're sure those letter-less owners would love for Google to declare these units "defective" and offer replacements.

For now we'll just have to wait to find out what the letter of the law will have to say in regards to the issue.
