SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The week of May 13 is 2024’s National Police Week, and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office has invited the public to a memorial flag-raising ceremony to kick it off in San Angelo.

The event will take place on Monday, May 13, at 9 a.m. in the east parking lot of the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, located at 222 W. Harris Ave. There, members of the community and law enforcement officers will gather to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.

The ceremony will include an opening prayer, proclamation reading by County Judge Lane Carter, Presentation of Colors by the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Reading of the Names by Sheriff Nick Hanna. Texas Ranger Major Wayne Matthews with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Congressman August Pfluger will speak as guests during the event as well. The ceremony will conclude with the Presentation of Arms and the playing of taps.

“We are confident it will be a memorable and meaningful event for all attendees,” TGSO said.
