Text message mix-up earns Penguins fans free Stanley Cup Final tickets
We all know how expensive Stanley Cup Final tickets can be. The high demand and limited quantity leads to some exorbitant prices at face value and on the secondary market. A couple of Penguins fans lucked out this week, thanks to a mysterious texter offering free tickets to Wednesday night’s Game 2.

According to KDKA Pittsburgh, Amy Santora received the text offering four tickets to the game at PPG Paints Arena. When she called the number to find out the deal, the person on the other end told her he had messaged her by accident. But then, luck shone on the Santoras.
“He called me back less than five minutes later and said he found Julianne [the person he initially intended to contact], but she was only taking one set of tickets, so I could have the other.”
This all happened early Wednesday evening, not long before the puck dropped between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators. Unsure if it was a prank of some sort, Mike Santora told his wife that they should go to the arena and see if this was real, and if they were being fooled they would just find a piece of real estate outside and watch the game on the big screen with hundreds of other fans.
The $329 tickets were indeed real and free, placing the Santoras behind one of the nets. Amy and Mike’s great evening continued as the Penguins beat the Predators 4-1 to take a 2-0 series lead.
Said Amy: “Whoever you are, thank you.”
