Texas Police Investigate Disturbing Footage of Distressed, Handcuffed Woman Caught on Home Security Camera

Texas police have launched an investigation after troubling footage of a seemingly distressed woman ringing doorbells in a residential neighborhood surfaced. The video was captured by resident Jennie Drude's doorbell camera, and she posted the video on her Facebook page.

According to multiple reports, in the middle of the night on Friday, August 24, an unidentified woman rang the doorbells of several residents in the Sunrise Ranch neighborhood of Montgomery, Texas. Drude had her security camera set up at her front door and it captured the moment the woman approached her home at around 3.a.m. Drude posted the video on Facebook and also alerted the police.

In the video, you can see the woman emerge from behind some bushes in Drude's yard, approach the door, ring the doorbell, and nervously look down the street. She was partially clothed in only a T-shirt -and appears to be wearing handcuffs, which were visible when she rang the doorbell.

According to Drude, the woman looked out of breath when she got to her front porch.

One Sunrise Ranch resident told Click2Houston that the woman rang their doorbell nearly 30 times. "We were dead asleep in our beds," they said. "My husband was woken up by doorbell ring. It rang probably 20 to 30 times." But by the time they approached their front door, the woman was gone. "No one was in sight. It's like she disappeared in thin air," they said.

After the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office became aware of the video, officers spoke with residents and launched an investigation. Reportedly, none of the residents in the neighborhood recognized the woman, and she doesn't fit the description for any missing persons reports.

The police department is asking residents to be careful, and Lieutenant Scott Spencer warned residents that this could be part of a scheme.

"Answer the door, but call from the other side of the door," Spencer said. "Don't actually open the door. Unfortunately, times have changed, so you have to be very careful. We have had a lot of home invasions."
